The blade is made from 1095 steel and 15n20 nickel, cryogenically heat treated in liquid nitrogen to increase hardness.  As you may know, 1095 is a traditional and sought after American high carbon steel that is prized for knife blades. 

It is hardened to about 58-60 on the Rockwell C scale (HRC).  This blade works well for both hunting and fishing.  It can be easily re-sharpened at home or in the field, and will hold an edge very well.

I’d say I’m surprised—but unfortunately

I’d say I’m surprised—but unfortunately, this is becoming a pattern with Hercules Knives.

My first issue was met with silence, and now with this recent order, one of the folders arrived defective and the two fixed blades—which were supposed to be identical—are clearly different. I reached out to customer service immediately. No response. Again.

Repeat business isn’t built on flashy branding or rugged names. It’s built on consistent, reliable customer service. And from my experience, that’s something Hercules Knives doesn’t offer.

I’m a custom knife maker myself, and I can assure you—this will be my last order. I don’t mind a mistake. I mind being ignored.
